The mocap rig has arrived!

So it's thursday evening, Tim and David from www.blendid.nl came over with a huge silver flightcase. And in the flightcase a little piece of magic. A motion capture suit/rig/harness or whatever it's officially called. With this we'll be able to record the movement of our actor and apply it to Petunia! It's a huge step forward for the project.

Of course there's more to it

The rig isn't the most modern... and apparently needs a com port! Well, that's a problem... 2 laptops, and a computer here but no com port in sight. So this weekend I'll have to hunt one down. There's something not quite right with the pre motion builder software either... though I'm sure it's fixable. The fact that it's here is great, it means we can really get going!

I also found some jiu jitsu guys locally who want to help test/record. That'll really help get everything ready for when Justus flies over. But perhaps that will result in some usable material as well, which would take lots of stress off the days we have planned for serious recording.

Once I get it to work somewhat I'll arrange for a nice space where we can record, and perhaps a video camera so we can show you all how it went.

On the right here is Tim wearing the rig in my living room. The guys were kind enough to show me how to put someone in it. There's lots, and lots of velcro!

Right now the rig is lying draped over some stools in the middle of my front room. It looks like a robot died there!
