Now this isn't going to be a feature film, it's going to be very short (3 minutes perhaps), and there will be no dialogue. Also 99% of the animation is going to be done by volunteers. So a traditional script is out, and not what we want really. In stead we create a setting as a starting point, and predefine the ending. Pretty much everything in between is open, and purposely left unwritten.
Ian Hubert was kind enough to point out we need a MacGuffin... and he's right! I haven't come up with the right one yet!
Treatment (Concept)
Intro
- You see a nice clear blue calm sky.
- The camera pans down and you see you are in a field in a forest (pine/leaf/bamboo, haven't chosen yet).
- The grass waves in the wind, a few bugs fly by, maybe a bird twitters sounding very pleased with itself.
The appearance of Petunia
-
A crow caws.
-
The camera swings round briskly to see a flock of crows take flight from the trees.
-
The camera pans around more looking for what caused the crows to scare.
-
Then the camera centers on a specific point in the treeline and the first Petunia appears.
-
As the camera keeps panning around more and more robots step out of the treeline.
The main scene
The ending
- A single robot is left standing in the middle of the field.
- The camera rotates around this robot to take in the carnage left behind.
